A new way to do biscuits. Being a southern girl the biscuits I am use to are always baked. I came across this
Recipe and thought these would be great to try during the hot summer months. You wouldn’t have to heat up the
Oven, save on that air conditioning.
Think I will try these tonight.
Jamican Biscuits Griddle Style.
Serve these hot biscuits with any meal.
Ingredients
2 C. all purpose flour (If you use self rising flour leave out the baking powder and salt)2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 C. water 2 tsp. oil 2 tsp. sugar
Directions
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside. In a separate bowl, blend the water, oil and sugar. Stir into the dry mixture. Roll out the dough on a floured board (to about 1/4 to 1/2" thick). Cut out 2" circles. Heat a griddle (or heavy skillet) over medium heat. Lightly oil before each addition of biscuits cook the biscuits until golden brown (about 3-4 minutes a side). Serve warm. Yield: 12-15 biscuits
You might want to use half all purpose flour and half wheat flour if you like a whole wheat biscuit.
