A happy New Year! Grant that I
May bring no tear to any eye
When this New Year in time shall end
Let it be said I've played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here,
And made of it a happy year.

Deals on prescripition drugs

If you are like our family and have prescriptions that you must fill monthly, the above link to Krogers generic program could save you a bundle. My insurance company's cheapest co-pay for prescriptions is $10.00 dollars, Kroger's generic charges $4.00 for a month supply or $10.00 for the ninety day supply. Print their list, have your doctor check it, and you may find, like I did, you can change to some of these drugs and have a big savings every month.

Did you know that Publix Grocery Store can save you money with this program? Take this list with you when you see your doctor. If you need antibiotics, and your doctor feels these will work for your condition, Publix will give them to you. That's right, no charge! That will save you a co-pay to your insurance company. Click the link above and you can print the list. I take mine with me every time I see my Doctor.

Check both these sites and see how many dimes you can save with just a click.

http://www.kraftfirsttaste.com/default.aspx

This article today made me look into how wasteful we have been at home. I had heard about energy vampires but had never looked into how much the ones I have in my house were costing me. I found a very neat worksheet to figure this out. Here's my tally:
Answering machine= 1 * $2.57
Microwave oven= 1 * $2.48
Cable Box = 1 * $9.25
Stereo system = 1 * $8.31
TV = 2 * $4.28
VCR = 1 * $6.85
DVD = 1 * $3.6
Cordless phone = 3 * $2.23
Radio = 3 * $1.46
Computer = 2 * $1.46
Printer = 1 * $4.28
Internet Terminal = 1 * $9.08
Battery charger = 1 * $0.77
Garage Door Opener = 2 * $2.57
For a total drained down the toilet of = $68.03

We have not been disciplined about turning off our computers when we go to bed, just doing that should save us $16.28 plus any additional savings from making sure we unplug the cell phone and toothbrush chargers when we are done with them.
Other energy drainers that were not on this worksheet but we have are: cell phone chargers, electric toothbrush charger and coffee maker. So even if $68.03 seems like peanuts in the grand scheme of things, every little bit I save is money left on my pocket not the energy company's and I am being less wasteful.

DRINK, STEAL, SWEAR & LIE.
I met a guy while I was in Albuquerque and he has a motto he lives by
everyday.
He said listen carefully and live by these 4 rules:
Drink, Steal, Swear, & Lie.
I was shaking my head 'no', but he then told me to listen while he explained his four rules.
So here they are:
1. 'Drink' from the 'everlasting cup' everyday.
2. 'Steal' a moment to help someone that is in worse shape than you are.
3. 'Swear' that you will be a better person today than yesterday.
4. And last, but not least, when you 'lie' down at night Thank God you live in America and have freedom.

When to get the best deals on Christmas Shopping this year.

Experts like Clark Howard are predicting
Sales for Christmas will start in mid to late October -- not Nov. 1 as it has been in recent years. You'll find the best deals up through about Dec. 10 and then again after Jan. 5. The real deep bargains happen in January. And of course, Black Friday will have the deals, but you shouldn't have to wait that long this year.
So try not to use your credit cards and look for those bargains.

Snap Dragons

When I was a child my Mom would always plant snap dragons in her flower beds. I can't look at them with out thinking about her. I recieved this in an e-mail, I never really thought about snap dragons this way.

I just wanted you to know, that I have entered the Snap Dragon part of my life.
