TAKEN AT THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH DISNEY WORLD

“Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

A Recipe for Jack & Mommy

My daughter, a first time mom has discovered that she likes to cook with my grandson Jack.(He is two and he loves to help) I had this recipe in my own cookbook from way back when.

Its quick,Its easy, the Kids can help, but best of all its cheap, it taste good. You probably have all the ingredients on hand in your cupboard.

We call them Boiling Cookies:

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar
1/2 cups butter
3 Tablespoons cocoa
1/2 cup milk
3 cup oatmeal.
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
wax paper

Directions:
Have your wax paper spread and ready for the cookies. An adult can help you with the boiling part.

Boil together sugar, butter, cocoa and milk for approx 2 1/2 minutes stirring constantly.
Remove from heat
and add vanilla and oatmeal.
Stir quickly.
Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper.
Put into fridge to harden.

Note to Jack's mom if you two make these take a picture and send it to me.

Colossal Soft Ginger Cookies

No ordinary Ginger Cookie:
"These are just what they say: big, soft, gingerbread cookies.
They stay soft, too.
INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup margarine, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon water (you can use a tablespoon of orange juice instead of water)
1/4 cup molasses
2 tablespoons white sugar

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Sift together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the water and molasses. Gradually stir the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture. Shape dough into walnut sized balls, and roll them in the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar. Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and flatten slightly.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.
I find you need to let the mix sit for a good 40-50 minutes before rolling into cookie form, otherwise you'll just be playing with a big gooey mess.
When rolling them into balls, spray cooking spray on your hands to keep them from sticking.
But these are worth the wait.
The holidays are coming and these will be great to take to covered dish dinners of give as gifts to your friends.

FEELING DOWN ? FAKE A LAUGH

FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT: Just as studies show the positive effects of smiling occurs whether the smile is fake or real, faked laughter also provides many benefits to our immune system. So we need to smile more, and if necessary fake laughter; you'll still achieve positive effects, and the fake merriment may lead to real smiles and laughter.
Next time your a feeling a little down pop your favorite comedy in the DVD PLAYER.
Physical Release: Have you ever felt like you "have to laugh or I'll cry"? Have you experienced the cleansed feeling after a good laugh? Laughter provides a physical and emotion release.
Laughter reduces the level of stress hormones like cortisol, epinephrine (adrenaline), dopamine and growth hormone. It also increases the level of health-enhancing hormones like endorphins, and neurotransmitters. Laughter increases the number of antibody-producing cells and enhances the effectiveness of T cells. All this means a stronger immune system, as well as fewer physical effects of stress. So start laughing and build that immune system.

Quick Quote

"The human race has only one really effective weapon, and
that's laughter. The moment it arises, all our hardnesses
yield, all our irritations and resentments slip away, and a
sunny spirit takes their place."

-- Mark Twain

Add to your pocket money. Save those cans.

Do you know you can make money off the drink cans you throw a way?
It takes thirty two, 12 oz soda cans, or 28 beer cans,(beer cans are heavier)
to make a pound . Okay I never said you would get rich. This is save-a-dime.
You would be surprised how fast cans add up.
When my son was little, we would pick up the cans left at the park and in the parking lots where we shopped. In those days, whatever we made, he got to save to spend on vacation.
If you let people know that you’re collecting the cans, you’ll be amazed how many people will give you theirs. Most people do want to recycle, they just don’t think it’s enough money to waste their time. These are the same people who will walk past a penny laying on the ground. 10 pennies make a dime.

Check with your local recycling center to see what the price per pound is. Per pound price varies.

ARE YOU FIFTY OR UP?

QUICK TIP

Spaghetti Sauce
Do you sometimes forget to watch your sauce. This tip will you save you some pot watching, and keep you from burning the bottom of your favorite pot. When making spaghetti sauce, place your sauce in an oven safe dish and place in the oven -- no higher than 300 degrees. It can be left to cook slowly for hours without burning -- just stir every now and then. Or leave it in your crock pot it simmers great there.

Here a a great crock pot recipe
1 lg. onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, chopped
1 lg. clove garlic, chopped
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 can (28 oz.) crushed tomatoes
1 can (14 oz.) crushed tomatoes
1 can (16 oz.) tomato paste
Seasonings to taste - I use salt, pepper, parsley, Italian seasoning and bay leaf

Place olive oil, onion, celery and garlic in crock pot insert. Cover and place in microwave oven. Cook on high until vegetables are soft but not browned (about 5 minutes). Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and seasonings. Cook, covered, in microwave oven until sauce starts to bubble (about 12 minutes). Remove crock pot insert from microwave oven and place it in crock. Cook on high while preparing meatballs.

MEATBALL INGREDIENTS:

1 lb. lean ground beef
4 eggs
Seasoned bread crumbs
1 clove garlic, chopped
Grated Parmesan cheese (2 tbsp. or more to taste)
Salt, pepper, parsley and Italian seasoning to taste

Crumble meat into a large bowl. Add eggs, garlic, cheese, seasonings and about 1/2 cup bread crumbs. Mix lightly, but thoroughly. Add bread crumbs a little at a time until mixture barely holds its shape. Mixture must remain soft.
Lightly shape meatballs, place on microwave safe plate. Cover with waxed paper and cook in microwave oven 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer meatballs to crock pot. Turn crock pot control to low and cook 4 to 6 hours occasionally stirring with a wooden spoon.

Breast Cancer Petition | myLifetime.com

Breast Cancer Petition | myLifetime.com
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS AND SIGN THE PETITION
WE NEVER KNOW,WHEN IT WILL BE ONE OF US...

From a nurse:
I'll never forget the look in my patients' eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the Doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies. So there I sat with my patients, giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank You' they muttered. A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a Mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.

It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it! Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times.

Stories From the E-Mail

A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his house.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you. I have been able to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house. Because of my flaws, you have to do a lot of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said.
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you've watered them.

For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."
Moral:
Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are, and look for the good in them. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape. Remember to appreciate all the different people in your life!
THANK YOU ALL - MY CRACKPOT FRIENDS!!
