Georgia in the Fall

Fall will be coming to Georgia soon. It is the time of year when our mountains come alive with majestic color. If you have never been to Georgia it is a great time of year to visit our state parks.
We have some great ones. If you get a chance check them out at http://www.gastateparks.org/

Did you know you can keep your DSL service with ATT with out paying for a phone line?

Is your family's phone bills like ours?( Exorbitant)
I am with ATT. We have DSL for our computer with them, I thought mistakenly that I had to have a land line to keep my DSL. The other day I read on the web that in some states, ATT had to make the DSL available to customer without the added cost of a land line.
Our bill was running around 148.00. My husband called today and the web was right. Since we have a great plan with Verizion, he cancelled the land line. This is going to save us about 100.00 a month , that will almost pay the family's cell phone bill.
So if phones are breaking your budget and you are with ATT, you may want to give them a call and see if your state is on the list.

Pork Loin is on sale these week: Try this recipe, I think your family will love it.

Ingredients
2 lbs pork loin (boneless)
to taste salt and pepper
1/4 cup HONEY
2 tablespoons orange juice
2 tablespoons Oive OIL
1/2 teaspoon thyme 1/2 cup Chicken BROTH

Season the pork and place in a roasting pan.
In a separate bowl, mix together the honey, juice, oil and thyme.

paste frequently. Strain the pan juices into a saucepan.
Reduce until slightly thickened. Serve over the sliced pork.

Friday is here at last !!!!

Today's post will be short, due to the fact I have had a rough week.

GUESS WHAT YOUR EGG SLICER CAN DO BESIDES EGGS

Have you ever set out to make a fruit tray or cheese tray when you were having
guest in, no matter how hard you try to cut the fruit all the same size it just isn't
happening.
Just reach for your egg slicer you can put kiwis into it and they will come out
in prefect little rounds. Hull your strawberries and put the in the slicer for a nice
uniform shape.
You can also use this little gem on mushrooms, or pitted olives.
Even on goat cheese, fresh mozzarella balls. and don't forget to try it on a stick of
butter.
When your done the clean up is a snap, just use a kitchen brush and some warm
soapy water.
I bet you have some ideas of your own. If you do, please click on comment and share them
with the rest of us.

RECIPE TO TRANSFORM YOUR LEFT OVER MEAT LOAF

Why didn't my mother have this recipe when I was growing up. One day every week my mom made a meatloaf of gigantic portion. Of course, it was never eaten in one meal. By the time we finshed the leftovers, it was her day to cook another meat loaf..
With this recipe she could have transformed the cold meat loaf into a nice warm pot of chili.
All you have to do is break up the left over meat loaf into chucks
Add a can of red beans drained and rinsed
shredded one carrot
Add a can of diced tomatoes
one pack of chili seasoning
mix them all together in a saucepan, bring it to a boil and let the ingredients heat.
Now you have turned that second day meat loaf, into a nice inviting warm bowl of chili.
I love this idea.

QUICK TIP :TO STRETCH YOUR FOOD BUDGET

When you buy your boneless chicken breast on sale for $1.99 lb like I did at Kroger this week, stock up while the price is low.

As it turns out, the breast I purchased where very thick, so I just put them on the cutting board and sliced through them like I was opening a book. That double the servings I will get from the chicken. It will also save time when I cook them. When you buy in bulk its a good idea to prepare the meat for the recipe you will use when you cook it. We cut some up for stir fry. Freeze some in palm size pieces for putting on the grill. (My doctor tells me a serving of meat should be plam sized.)If you go ahead and cut it up the way you plan to use it this will save you time getting dinner on the table.

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO KEEP PASTA WATER IN THE POT?

I just hate it when the pasta water boils over on to the stove. It is the pits cleaning it up.
A good friend shared this tip with me and it works great.
Just spray a light coat of vegetable oil around the inside of the rim before you start to cook.
It really works.

TIPS FROM SOME PENNY PINCHERS

One reader says, that before he and his wife head out for a nice meal, he always makes a single cocktail for them to enjoy together, before they leave. It's quieter and they can have some time for conversation, they can hear.
But the best part is, it saves about $20.00 off their dinner bill.

Another reader offers this suggestion. Before you send the clothes you're tired of to the Goodwill, first have a pot luck party. Have your friends over, get them to bring the clothes, handbags, and shoes, they thought they had to have, but never wear. Then trade them around. If there are things no one wants, donate them to charity.

Who said one woman's junk is another woman's treasure?

If you have children, this is also a good way to deal with the things they out grow or the toys they get bored with, have a pot luck for them too.
