My hubby got this shot while we were in Gatlinburg. The only thing between the Bear and us

was the ditch by the road. We were in the car safe and sound, unlike the women in front of us who got out and tried to go closer. The bear decided to meet her halfway, it is amazing how fast a older woman can run when she has a bear on her heels. She made it back to her car, in one piece. And she gave me and my friends a good laugh. I bet she didn't even get her picture.

So my advice is stay in your car and snap the shot.

Indian Taco

On the way home from Gatlinburg, my hubby and I made a quick stop at Cherokee.
I always make a stop there, because like everyone else in the south I am part Cherokee.
(I think the tribe was made up of lovers not warriors.)
My father's mother ,was full blooded.
I walked across the bridge, over the river to the made in China souvenir shops.
This always brings back my childhood memories. The Indian Chief is still posing for pictures with the children. The river is still making that same soothing sound as it runs over the rocks that it made when I was 7 ! I am never more at peace, than when I sit by that river.
We decided to have a little snack at one of the restaurants.
They had hot dogs and hamburgers and Indian tacos????
That was what we ordered and It was great.
So here is the recipe for all you little Indians out there hope you enjoy it.


Indian Fry Bread

3 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
pinch of salt
1-1/3 cups warm water
vegetable oil for frying
Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Add the water and knead the dough until soft. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured board until 1/4" thick. Cut out 4" rounds. Heat 1"-2" of oil in a saucepan. Fry the bread until puffed. Turn bread when edges are brown and continue cooking

Now top it with your favorite homemade chili, some cheese and onions, don't forget shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes.

INGREDIENTS

1/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon maple flavored extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
DIRECTIONS
Combine the butter, peanut butter, confectioners' sugar, vanilla and maple flavoring. Cream well and knead well.
Melt the chocolate chips over low heat. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls. Dip into melted chocolate chips.
Refrigerate overnight (or at least for about 15 minutes) on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.

Why I didn't go to a Tea Party !

The Tea Party started at the Capital, in Atlanta at 9:00 pm last night.

When my husband picked me up at work yesterday I asked him, why don't we go to the Tea Party?

I thought he would love the idea. Wrong!

He said he would like to go,but we have to work tomorrow, and we need our sleep, the crowd will be so big where would we park?

This from a man who is always complaining about the high taxes, I am glad our founding fathers didn't think like that, how dull would our history books be?

This from the man who says, "Don't throw the tea, throw the politicians who voted to pass the bills that got us in this mess."

My hat is off to all of you who fought the traffic and stay up late on a work night to send a message.

You are the ones, who make us a great nation.
